Galloway Views

Untitled document

I was born and brought up in Galloway surrounded by the brilliant yellows of gorse and the purples of the heather in August. A sweet landscape bounded by the Solway Firth. Although the climate is mild due to the Gulf Stream, adverse weather can last many days. Painting in these circumstances presents particular challenges. I painted “Hestan from Auchencairn” when battered by wind and waves. “Kirkcudbright harbour” must be welcoming to hard-pressed sailors.
